France: INSEE revises estimate downwards; GDP stagnates in the second quarter
(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - France’s gross domestic product remained stable in the second quarter, recording zero growth on a quarter-on-quarter basis. This was announced by INSEE, the French statistics agency, which revised downwards its initial estimate, which had indicated growth of 0.2 per cent between April and June. INSEE has also revised downwards the figures for the first quarter, now reporting a 0.2 per cent contraction in GDP; previously, the National Institute of Statistics had indicated a 0.1 per cent fall for the first three months of the year.
