The Frasassi Caves in Genga (An), one of the most spectacular underground routes in the world, are launching a new project dedicated to Italian schools to educate students about safeguarding the planet with the much-loved Gormiti. "Gormiti - The New Era Game" is the name of the Frasassi Caves initiative that features the characters from the new live action television series "Gormiti - The New Era", signed by Rainbow in collaboration with Giochi Preziosi, on air on Rai Gulp and Rai Play, filmed in the site's spectacular natural setting, among the alabaster volutes and gigantic stalactites and stalagmites.
The Project
An innovative high-value gamification project for environmental education, completely free of charge for schools, which turns learning the values of nature conservation into a game, through the study of one of the most protected and preserved tourist sites in the world: the Frasassi Caves, the capital of quality school tourism, which has always been at the forefront of environmental sustainability awareness.
The beloved protagonists of the series - Glen the Earth Scion, Carter the Water Scion, Skye the Air Scion and Zane the Fire Scion - will promote the core values of environmental sustainability through the exploration of the caves' fantastic thousand-year-old natural ecosystem.
The proposal
With quizzes, hands-on and interactive activities, both in the classroom and online, students will discover how small everyday actions contribute to protecting the planet. Topics such as recycling, water saving, air pollution and the circular economy will be addressed in a fun way to stimulate curiosity and interest. The project, coordinated by Peak Time's expert trainers, is aimed at primary and secondary schools and envisages a national final competition in Frasassi for the classes with the best scores, with important cash prizes for the institutes.
With the patronage of the Ministry for the Environment and Energy Security, and in collaboration with the national Consortia for the Collection, Recovery and Recycling of Packaging, Biorepack, Cial, Comieco, Corepla, Coreve and Ricrea, the project, offered by the Frasassi Caves to schools, is an opportunity to educate and to make students become potential "heroes of the Earth", aware of their role as custodians in protecting the environment.
International Geological Research Hub
The Frasassi Caves, an international hub of geological research, unique for their spectacular nature, with a tourist route of one and a half kilometres, accessible to all, are one of the most visited itineraries by schools of all levels thanks to an important didactic offer combined with state-of-the-art field laboratories and virtual immersions. A complete ecosystem in the belly of the earth where life has continued undisturbed since time immemorial, where it is possible to travel millions of years into the past and discover the history of the evolution of life on the planet.
