Fresenius Kabi inaugurates its new production line, a 28 million investment

The development of the Isola della Scala plant forms part of Fresenius’s ‘local for local’ strategy, which aims to manufacture medicines in the same geographical areas where they are used, thereby reducing reliance on supplies from third countries and increasing the resilience of supply chains.

The expansion of production capacity at the Veronese Scala site will be accompanied by a wider programme of technological innovation at the site, underlining the company’s commitment to industrial development, the enhancement of professional skills and the creation of jobs in the local area.

Industrial investment strengthens Italia’s and Europe’s ability to ensure the availability of critical medicines, reducing the vulnerability of supply chains and contributing to the continent’s health security.

Fresenius Kabi offers a wide range of medicines, medical technologies, nutritional solutions and active pharmaceutical ingredients, supporting healthcare professionals and patients across the country. With five manufacturing sites, a distribution centre and two research and development centres, Italia serves as a strategic hub for the company’s European operations in the Pharma, MedTech and API sectors.

Over 90 per cent of Fresenius Kabi’s products sold in Europe are manufactured on the continent. The company’s Italian sites include plants dedicated to the production of antibiotics, active pharmaceutical ingredients, infusion solutions and medical devices for blood treatment. In Italia, the workforce numbers around 1,400 employees; oover 90 per cent of Fresenius Kabi’s products sold in Europe are manufactured on the continent.
