Friends and foes on Radio 24: Battista, Campedelli, Pregliasco and Profumo discuss politics, sport and research
The 31 January episode delves into international tensions, election polls, political current affairs and European universities with leading experts
On Saturday 31 January, from 8.30 am to 10 am, Friends and Foes returns on Radio 24, with Marianna Aprile and Daniele Bellasio.
Guests of the episode will be Pierluigi Battista (journalist and writer, former deputy editor of Corriere della Sera and Panorama, writes for the daily Il Foglio), Alessandra Campedelli (volleyball coach, former coach of the women's national teams of Iran and Pakistan), Lorenzo Pregliasco (co-founder and editor-in-chief of YouTrend), Francesco Profumo (among others, former president of the National Research Council and former Minister of Education, University and Research of the Monti government, now Rector of OPIT - Open Institute of Technology).
After the usual opening editorials, Alessandra Campedelli will be the guest on the programme from around 8.45 am. With her, the presenters will discuss the current living conditions in Iran, where in early January a harsh repression hit protesters opposed to the regime that is currently experiencing moments of great tension with the United States. The discussion will start from Campedelli's recent book 'IO POSSO. A volleyball coach in Pakistan and Iran' (Baldini+Castoldi, 2025).
Then, from around 9.05 a.m., it will be time for YouTRE, the polls without numbers in three minutes with which, every week, thanks to the collaboration with YouTrend, we explain the impact of the most recent political events on the electorate. In this episode the poll will be presented by Lorenzo Pregliasco.
Immediately afterwards, from around 9.10am, Aprile and Bellasio will comment together with Pierluigi Battista on the most important domestic and international political news of the week.
