by Patrizia Maciocchi
From artisan workshop to leading company in Italia with a turnover of 200 million euro. The personal and entrepreneurial story of Valter Scavolini from Pesaro, class of '42, founder with his brother Elviro of the company of the same name, famous throughout the world as the flagship of Made in Italy, becomes a docufilm. Valter Scavolini's story begins in the black and white of the 1960s, the years of the economic miracle, when Italy with Modugno dreamed of "Flying". But "even daydreaming," Valter Scavolini recounts in the film, "I didn't think I'd make it, to New York, or even have a company of this size. The film - presented as a national preview at the Cinema Adriano in Rome on 27 May - entitled"Valter Scavolini - Life as a great enterprise", is directed by Mattia Zanca director from Pesaro, and produced by 7 Verticale, with screenplay by Luca Masia and Mattia Zanca.
A film that goes beyond the industrial narrative, to build an intimate and generational portrait that crossesprivate memory, territorial identity, sports, communication and popular Italian culture.
The tale of an economic miracle
A choral tale about post-war Italia, a reflection on Made in Italy, a testimony on the value of family memory and a focus on the importance of dialogue between generations. In the docufilm, archive material, testimonies and a poetic narrative line accompany the viewer through the story of a man who started out from the Marche countryside after the war to build one of the symbols of Italian style in the field of design and furniture.
The 11-year-old Francesco Badei, also from Pesaro in his first film experience, can be Valter as a young man, the grandson imagining his grandfather or the exponent of a new generation trying to understand the previous one.
