The focus of the new issue of 24 Hours, on newsstands from Friday 3 July, is sports watches. One of the most famous models in this category, the Tag Heuer Monaco – closely linked to the world of motorsport – has, in recent months, welcomed the new Monaco Chronograph to its line-up, featured in the cover story alongside the Monaco Evergraph: two new releases that mark the evolution of the model. Rounding off the overview is an interview with actor Patrick Dempsey, who has been a brand ambassador for the Swiss brand for many years. Staying on the subject of motorsport, Chanel has launched a brand-new J12 Superleggera, the racing-inspired variant of the maison’s flagship collection. The quintessential sports function – the chronograph – features in the new skeletonised versions of the Big Bang Reloaded. We continue with new releases linked by style, performance and functionality to the sea. There are the Luminor and Radiomir models from Panerai in the year that Eilean, the Bermudian ketch owned by the watch brand, returns to regattas. Still on the subject of regattas, the new Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master II from Rolex introduces a more intuitive countdown measurement system. As for diving watches, Audemars Piguet, Longines and Mido present new diver’s watches designed for underwater activities, yet – thanks to their versatility and contemporary design – also ideal for everyday wear. We then move on to outdoor adventures with a haute horlogerie twist, featuring Vacheron Constantin’s four Overseas Dual Time Cardinal Points watches – one for each cardinal direction – which are direct descendants of a prototype tested during an expedition to Everest. Speaking of adventure, the greatest challenge humanity is about to face will be living in space. IWC, in collaboration with a company specialising in the production of habitable space stations, has created an ultra-durable and user-friendly model, the Pilot’s Venturer Vertical Drive, designed to be used even beyond Earth’s atmosphere. Among the elegant sports watches, Bulgari has revamped its Octo Finissimo collection, introducing a more versatile series with a 37 mm diameter: a smaller size compared to previous models. Patek Philippe has introduced its first grand complication, the perpetual calendar, into the sport-chic Cubitus line. And more: a focus on the four diver’s watches from Omega, Tudor, Eberhard & Co. and Citizen; an interview with Mathieu van der Poel, one of the greatest champions in world cycling today and a ‘friend of the brand’ for Richard Mille; a look at connected multisport watches, featuring the Fēnix 8 – MicroLED, the first smartwatch with a display of this kind – and a few ideas for summer fashion and design shopping.
