Easter brings good news on the tourism front, with a trend that points to further growth in the sector for the summer. Many Italians will treat themselves to a mini break and many foreigners will come to Italy, even travelling alone. According to the survey by Federalberghi (through Tecnè), 10.5 million Italians will be travelling for Easter. 92% will stay in Italy, while 8% will choose a foreign location.
The favourite destinations for travellers staying in Italy will be the sea (32.5%), art resorts (28.9%), mountains (21.8%), lakes (3.4%) and spas (2.5%).
Agriturismi: sold out with half a million Italians
.At least 600 thousand tourists have chosen a countryside solution, notes the AgrieTour Observatory, both for Easter lunch and for Easter Monday activities. About half a million Italians will be in agritourism for the Easter weekend, to which will be added the Monday agritourists who have already booked lunch or a picnic in a green structure to arrive at over a million presences. Families are travelling and the target audience is still under 50..
Agritourism represents one of the most dynamic and lively sectors of Italian agriculture and transversally of tourism. The number of agritourism companies in Italy, in fact, has continued to grow throughout the pandemic period: +1.3% in 2021 compared to 2020 and +3.3% compared to 2019, to reach 25,390 companies in 2023. Growth also in terms of production value, back above the billion euro mark (1.162 billion).
The good trend is confirmed by Tuscany. "From Chianti to Grossetano, in the Maremma and in the Siena area, our agritourisms are celebrating Easter in full. Half of the tourists will come from abroad and will stay for a week on average. We are inaugurating the season with a high turnout". So say Daniela Maccaferri, president of Agriturist Toscana, and Fabiola Materozzi, Confagricoltura Toscana and coordinator of Agriturist Toscana. "Italians," says Maccaferri, "respect the trend of previous years and will stay for an average of four days, following the weather trend closely. Foreign tourists, on the other hand, will stay up to a week. In any case, the 2024 season opens successfully and is expected to be positive".
