From Interlaken to Montreux with the Golden Pass Express

The Golden Pass Express offers a great variety of landscapes. You start at the shores of one lake and arrive at the shores of another. From Interlaken, in the middle of the two lakes (Brienz and Thun), you can admire the legendary triad of the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau peaks. Passing through Gstaad, Château-d'Oex, Montbovon you arrive in Montreux, on the shores of Lake Geneva, where the atmosphere is almost Mediterranean. Places of interest include Zweisimmen, a starting point for high-altitude hikes, and Saanen, which keeps old traditions alive, in particular the art of Berner Höbelkäse cheese and the skilful production of sharp scissors. Traditional handicrafts can be admired at the Saanen Landscape Museum in the car-free centre. Gstaad is one of the best known holiday resorts in the world, partly due to the delightful chalet-style houses, the car-free centre and the many exclusive restaurants and hotels. The romantic village of Montbovon on the banks of the Sarine, on the other hand, is a starting point for various hikes and excursions. From here, it is possible to reach Gruyères, the beloved village of the cheese of the same name, and Broc, with its famous Nestlé-Cailler chocolate factory. To reach Chillon Castle, a walk or bus ride is sufficient, as it is 4 km from the centre of Montreux. Also not to be forgotten is the Lavaux vineyard area, also known as the 'Land of Three Suns'. In Interlaken, the 4-star Hotel Krebs, built in 1875 and recently renovated, is worth a visit.
