From artificial intelligence that defends physical devices and corporate digital infrastructures to quantum number generators that make cryptographic keys unhackable: 16 Italian companies will be presenting their technological solutions at the Rsa Conference 2025 (Rsac), the world's largest event dedicated to cybersecurity, scheduled to take place at the Moscone centre in San Francisco from 28 April to 1 May.
The national collective - organised by Ice-Agenzia per la promozione all'estero e l'internazionalizzazione delle imprese italiane in partnership with the Agenzia per la Cybersecurity nazionale (Acn) and in close collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation - brings to the United States for the first time the most competitive proposals on the national market in a sector that is increasingly central to the technological development of companies as well as public administrations.
The cyber threats in Italy
.The Agency for National Cybersecurity (Acn) is the Italian authority responsible for the protection of national interests in the field of cybersecurity. According to the latest Operational Summary of March 2025, the cyber threat landscape in Italy shows a decrease in the number of events, while the number of incidents remains within the average of the last six months. The most affected sector was the local public administration. The most widespread techniques remain malicious email campaigns, the use of compromised credentials and the exploitation of known vulnerabilities. Overall, the Csirt Italia ('Computer security incident response team', Acn's internal national body in charge of preventing, monitoring and managing computer security incidents involving critical infrastructures, public administrations and operators of essential services) sent 3,877 reports of compromises or risk factors to Italian administrations and companies.
Support for Italian companies in the USA
Italy's participation in RSAC is part of a broad strategy to promote Italian innovative companies in the United States coordinated by the Ice office in Los Angeles, which combines direct support to companies, participation in strategic events, and the creation of international networks. In 2025, the office has already coordinated the participation of Italian companies in various events, starting with Ces 2025 in Las Vegas, which saw 58 Italian start-ups, scaleups and corporations appear on the world's most important innovation stage, and 'Italy on the Move' the traditional appointment with the Italian life sciences industry in the USA, an event that also represented the first stage of the Montalcini global biotech tour, an initiative of Maeci and Agenzia Ice for the international promotion of the Italian biotechnology sector within the framework of the Working Table for the Internationalisation of Biotech Industries.
The Italian Pavilion at Rsac 2025
.Italian companies at Rsac 2025 are active in all the most cutting-edge fronts of the industry: from Ai and automation, with solutions for protecting Ai models on devices, customised and automated cybersecurity models, testing for cyber-physical systems and software development, and a web browser designed to prevent cyber threats in the company. Then there is network security, with plug-and-play solutions that avoid excessive infrastructure investments, or that monitor data traffic in the company, securing information derived from web traffic. Many solutions for digital identity protection, from secure authentication systems that do not store biometric data, to digital signature management. And finally, cryptography that also exploits quantum technologies, from the study of algorithms for the computers of the future to encryption key generators that exploit random microscopic physical processes, to hardware-software security systems for connected devices.
