It opened with the presentation of the 22 teams on the road, who will race La Vuelta starting on Saturday 23 August, the official ceremony that symbolically kicked off the cycling race that will see Italy host one of the most important events dedicated to two wheels for the first time.
In the heart of historic Turin, the city and the region welcomed the teams that will compete in the coming days.
It is one of the most iconic and eagerly awaited events of world cycling.
The setting for the opening ceremony was the Piazzetta Reale, part of the Royal Museums complex in Turin, the stage for an evening that combined sport, music, culture and territorial identity. The event 'Teams Presentation - La Vuelta 25' was organised by Vuelta, the Piedmont Region and the City of Turin and represented the official prologue to the 'Salida Oficial', the great departure of the race that, for the first time in its history, will start from Italy, and in particular from Piedmont. The ceremony was open to the public, with live television and streaming to over 190 countries.
The presentation of the teams represented the initial phase of an event that from 23 to 26 August will see Piedmont as the protagonist of four official stages, crossing the provinces of Turin, Biella, Vercelli, Novara and Cuneo, before crossing the Alps and reaching France. The numbers generated by La Vuelta 25 refer to millions of television viewers, 136 municipalities involved, hundreds of athletes, operators and international media. For Piedmont, it is a stage that completes the territory's commitment to cycling, after the Giro d'Italia and the Tour de France, and brings to the region a record, that of being the first region in the world to have hosted all three Grand Tours.
