Fs Security: bodycams for over a thousand staff members to tackle assaults on trains and at stations

Fs Security’s bodycams do more than just record video and audio. The devices are integrated with the Security Control Room, developed by Fs Technology to manage live video feeds and recordings.

When an operator activates the alarm device, the system detects their location in real time and automatically sends a notification to the operations centre. Staff in the control room can thus obtain immediate information about the incident in progress, pinpoint the operator’s location and simultaneously access the video and audio feed from the bodycam.

The direct link enables the operations centre to monitor developments from the very outset and to gain a clearer picture of the operation.

The devices and how they work were presented in the Sala Esquilino at Roma Termini station. The event was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Matteo Salvini; the Minister for the Interior, Matteo Piantedosi; the Chairman of the FS Group, Tommaso Tanzilli; Pietro Foroni, Chief Executive of FS Security, and Erminio Marco Iacomussi, Chief Executive of FS Technology.

The introduction of body cameras forms part of the technological innovation initiatives developed by the FS Group to strengthen the system for preventing and monitoring railway safety.

The distribution of these devices strengthens the protective measures in place for staff engaged in day-to-day security activities in support of the FS Group. The aim is to reduce risks to staff, tackle incidents of aggression and help create a safer, more resilient and more efficient operating and travel environment for passengers and railway staff.
