Fuel: prices are falling, but so are international prices
Over the last three days, market prices have fallen by a total of more than seven cents per litre for petrol and more than nine cents per litre for diesel
The effect of “cap” on petrol and diesel prices introduced by Eni and Ip (and from tomorrow also by Q8, whilst this morning the first network operator, Costantin, announced a ‘price cap’) continues to have an impact on average national prices. Although, it should be added, over the last three days international petrol and diesel prices have plummeted, falling by a total of over seven cents per litre (petrol) and over nine cents (diesel). For this reason, at least in recent days, the impact of the ‘price cap’ on the accounts of the companies applying it has been significantly reduced.
This morning, 30 September, the average price of fuel at self-service stations across the national road network stands at €2.111 per litre for petrol (-15 thousandths compared to yesterday), €2.316 per litre for diesel (-19), €0.748 per litre for LPG (+1) and €1.886 per kg for natural gas (+1). Overall, since Saturday, average petrol prices have fallen by 4.8 cents, whilst diesel prices have fallen by 6.1 cents.
On the motorway network, the average self-service price is €2.138 per litre for petrol (-42), €2.345 per litre for diesel (-19), €0.886 per litre for LPG (+2) and €1.801 per kg for natural gas (unchanged). Over the past two days, the overall fall has been 7.6 cents for petrol and 5.6 cents for diesel. According to the usual survey by Staffetta Quotidiana, Q8 has reduced its recommended prices by two cents per litre for petrol and by five cents per litre for diesel.
Looking in detail at sales channels and brands based on data recorded at 8 am yesterday morning, taking into account all of the approximately 21,000 retail outlets that report prices to the Price Observatory of the Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy (covering both local roads and motorways), it appears that Eni has brought its entire network into line with the ‘price cap’. These are the average prices calculated by La Staffetta: self-service petrol at 2.121 euros per litre (major networks 2.106, independent stations 2.155), self-service diesel at 2.331 euros per litre (major networks 2.318, independent stations 2.347).
Petrol sold at 2.250 euro/litre (petrol station chains 2.269, independent stations 2.191), diesel sold at 2.458 euro/litre (petrol station chains 2.482, independent stations 2.383). LPG at the pump: 0.742 euros per litre (petrol station chains: 0.748, independent pumps: 0.739); CNG at the pump: 1.891 euros per kg (petrol station chains: 1.872, independent pumps: 1.869); LNG at 1.722 euros per kg (petrol station chains 1.722 euros per kg, independent stations 1.739 euros per kg).
