Fuel, restrictions at the airports of Bologna, Milan Linate, Treviso and Venice
The reason is linked to the crisis in the Middle East and the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, where crude oil from the Gulf countries passes through
It had been announced and now the confirmation has arrived: the first fuel restrictions for flights in Italia are being triggered. At the moment, there are four airports: Bologna, Milan Linate, Treviso and Venice.
The reason, of course, is related to the crisis in the Middle East and the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, where crude oil from the Gulf countries passes through. Brent crude continues to stay above 100 dollars per barrel.
The "Notam"
Air Bp Italia, one of the main operators, has in fact issued a 'Notam', i.e. an aeronautical bulletin addressed to airlines, informing them that for the next few days, until 9 April, there will be fuel restrictions at the four airports.
O'Leary (Ryanair): if war continues risk of disruption from May
Should the conflict in the Middle East continue, jet fuel supplies could be disrupted in early May. This was said by the CEO and founder of Ryanair, Michael O'Leary, in an interview with Britain's Sky News.
"Fuel suppliers are constantly monitoring the market," he said. "We do not expect disruptions until the beginning of May, but if the war continues, we run the risk of supply disruptions in Europe in May and June. We hope that the war will end sooner and that the risk to supplies will be eliminated'.
