Fuels, Gdf: 'Realignment of excise duties foreseen in the manoeuvre, commitment against fraud'
Over the past three years, the Fiamme Gialle have carried out more than 30,000 checks with the aim of uncovering tax evasion. Assoutenti: in Campania and Sicily green costs more than diesel, in Basilicata price lists are equivalent
Key points
Over the past three years, the Guardia di Finanza has carried out more than 30,000 inspections with the aim of uncovering tax evasion through the release for consumption of energy products that have escaped taxation, the false product classification of fuels, and irregularities in the circulation and traceability of products.
Now, after the entry into force of the manoeuvre, which has reduced by 4.05 cents per litre the taxation on petrol with an increase, of equal amount, of that on diesel oil for motor vehicles, the Italian Armed Forces of the Customs Service (Fiamme Gialle) highlight in a note that "the departments on the territory have been further sensitized to orient the action of control also on the side of prices, verifying compliance with the rules on transparency and advertising, including the obligations of communication to the Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy, the correct display, as well as their correspondence with those actually charged to the consumer".
"Constant control action against fraud"
In particular, in order to protect consumers and the regular functioning of the market, the Guardia di finanza 'will carry out constant control action in the marketing sector of energy products for motor vehicles, through a calibrated, flexible and capillary operational control, capable of promptly intercepting fraudulent phenomena'.
Assoutenti: in Campania and Sicily green costs more than diesel, in Basilicata price lists are equal
The consumers' association Assoutenti reports that while the national average price of petrol is falling, recording the lowest levels since December 2022, in some regions there are anomalous trends in retail prices, with green fuel still costing more at distributors than diesel. The association processed the data released on Wednesday 7 January by Mimit analysing the effects of the realignment of excise duties that took place last 1 January.
This is the case in Sicilia, where petrol costs 1.684 euro per litre, diesel 1.676 euro/litre, with green fuel thus being 0.8 euro cents more expensive than diesel.
