Fuel: sources at Palazzo Chigi say a Council of Ministers meeting will be held tomorrow to extend the current measures

A provisional assessment tomorrow, followed by targeted action

(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Tomorrow there will be a meeting of the Council of Ministers to extend the measures currently in place to tackle high fuel prices, after which the Government will launch a more structured and targeted initiative. This has been reported by sources at Palazzo Chigi, who have announced that a meeting took place today between Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Deputy Prime Ministers Antonio Tajani, Matteo Salvini, the leader of Noi Moderati, Maurizio Lupi, and the Minister for the Economy, Giancarlo Giorgetti, dedicated to the situation regarding fuel prices and support measures.

Tomorrow – according to sources at the Prime Minister’s Office – a new Cabinet meeting is scheduled, which is expected to “extend the measures already in force for a few days, so as to allow the Government to work on a more targeted response. The measure due to expire tomorrow, therefore, will not be the final one, but will serve to allow the measure to be finalised within the necessary timeframe.”

It is explained that the aim "is to introduce a measure that focuses more closely on the income groups most in need of state support, thereby making the scheme more effective and targeted".

Government sources indicate that tomorrow’s Cabinet meeting will take place at 6.00 pm.
