Gaia Costa, the 24-year-old woman who was run over on 8 July in Porto Cervo by an SUV driven by Vivian Spohr, wife of Lufthansa CEO Carsten Spohr, died of a severe head injury. The confirmation comes from the autopsy performed Monday afternoon at the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Sassari by the anatomopathologist Salvatore Lorenzoni, appointed by the Tempio Pausania Public Prosecutor's Office. Also present were the consultants appointed by the victim's family and Vivian Spohr's lawyers. Immediately after the autopsy examination, Gaia's body was returned to her family for the funeral that will take place today, starting at 5.30 p.m. in the church of San Pietro in Tempio Pausania. For today, a day of mourning has been declared and the flags of the Town Hall will be flown at half-mast for the whole day.
Investigations to reconstruct dynamics
In the meantime, investigations are continuing in order to understand the exact dynamics of the accident and thus understand what may have happened the instant the investment occurred.
The accident occurred in the late morning of 8 July in Via Aga Khan in Porto Cervo. Gaia Costa, according to reconstruction, was crossing on the pedestrian crossing when she was hit.
The investigators are examining the footage of the surveillance cameras monitoring the area and also the testimonies of several people, as well as the woman's phone and car. From all the elements that emerge, it will be possible to understand the exact dynamics and causes.
