From the elements that will emerge from the technical investigations, the examination of the car involved and the video from the video surveillance cameras, the exact dynamics of the accident that took place in the late morning of 8 July in which Gaia Costa, 24 years old from Tempio, who was walking to work in Porto Cervo, lost her life in Via Aga Khan. She was hit by Vivian Spohr, wife of Lufthansa CEO Carsten Spohr, who was on holiday for a few days in Costa Smeralda. According to an initial reconstruction, the woman driving the SUV did not notice the young woman crossing behind a group of other people. And the car, according to an initial reconstruction, drove off, hitting the young woman.

Attempts to rescue her by 118 personnel and doctors who tried to resuscitate her for some 20 minutes were futile. For Gaia Costa there was nothing to be done. The driver of the SUV also fell ill when she got out of the car.

The reconstruction, carried out with the first elements gathered, will now have to be validated by the others that will emerge from the investigation carried out by the Tempio Public Prosecutor's Office. One concerns the examination of the video taken by the surveillance cameras aimed at the area. The acquisition of the testimonies of some people present should also be envisaged. Another element that should be worked on is the technical examination of the SUV, which is currently under sequestration.

Vivian Sporh, who is being investigated for road homicide, left Italy 'because she was so shaken by what had happened', stresses lawyer Angelo Merlini, who represents her with his colleague Alessandro Vitale from Rome. 'She has placed herself completely at the disposal of the Italian judicial authorities for the necessary investigations and, although she is aware that such a great personal loss cannot be remedied, she will take steps to mitigate the consequences'.

In the meantime, other investigations are going on, which also have to cope with the extended timeframe. An autopsy on the girl's body is scheduled for 16 July. This is a long time due to bureaucratic procedures, as the documents served on Vivian Sporh have to be translated into German. Representing the family of young Gaia Costa, daughter of Alfredo Costa, a well-known Gallura CISL trade unionist, is lawyer Antonello Desini, who speaks of the family's deep grief. "I can only say that my clients have the utmost confidence in the work of the Tempio Public Prosecutor's Office. And it is precisely from the investigations carried out by the public prosecutor's office that the exact reconstruction of the dynamics is awaited. In the meantime, as a sign of mourning, the mayor of Tempio has cancelled all the events scheduled for these days in the city, including the Faber Festival, postponed to a date to be determined.
