Measuring the environmental, social and governance impacts generated by its activities over the past year and setting ambitious improvement targets to be achieved in the near future. With this spirit, Istituto Ganassini, the Italian dermocosmetic group founded in Milan in 1935, has once again drawn up its Sustainability Report this year.

Compared to the 2022 edition, the 2023 edition broadened its scope, referring not only to the parent company Istituto Ganassini di Ricerche Biochimiche, but to the entire consolidated perimeter, including subsidiaries. This has made it possible to provide an even more complete and detailed picture of corporate performance.

A further and important innovation concerns the drafting of the Report, which is carried out in compliance with the new European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), drawn up by the European Financial Reporting Advisory Group (EFRAG), which will become mandatory for the company from 2026, in addition to the GRI (Global Reporting Initiatives) standards. In this way, the group decided to anticipate the adoption of these parameters, collecting data and information for the last fiscal year two years in advance.

Four pillars guide the group's current sustainability strategy: product quality and customer focus; valuing people and supporting the community; environmental protection and respect; commitment to scientific research.

Over the past year, 30 non-profit organisations, associations and organisations have been supported, with the aim of supporting projects for local communities in the social, cultural and environmental fields. In their favour, Ganassini donated almost 560,000 euro.

Internally, it is committed daily to the development of the individual and his or her human and professional growth, with the aim of ensuring a serene working environment. As at 31 December 2023, the workforce consisted of 637 people including employees, trainees and sales agents; almost all employees (96%) had an open-ended contract, with 66% of the workforce (employees and collaborators) being women. Furthermore, of the 126 people hired during 2023, 87 are women and 41 are under-30.

The 2023 Sustainability Report is a functional document for the development of Istituto Ganassini, which from 2021 can boast the title of Benefit Company," declares Vittoria Ganassini, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility. "Based on this document, we have been able to accurately identify the strengths and weaknesses, best practices and failures that characterise our sustainability strategy. We are now ready for a new step, the development and implementation by the end of 2024 of a new three-year Strategic Sustainability Plan, which will further raise the quality of our commitment to our communities and stakeholders. All of this with respect to a sustainable, innovative and effective business model, able to create value in the long term and bring positive impacts on the communities, people and territories involved in our activities".
