Gavazzi, management takes over the company: new phase for the technical textiles group
the family remains with a minority stake. The transaction aims to strengthen growth, innovation and positioning in high value-added segments
The management buyout of Gavazzi Tessuti Tecnici is finalised: the family remains with a minority shareholding and entrusts the leadership to top management. Objective: industrial continuity, growth in the segments with greater added value, and a focus on innovation, sustainability and composite materials.
The ownership structure of Gavazzi Tessuti Tecnici has changed and a new phase has begun for one of the historical realities of the Italian manufacturing industry. The company, which was founded in 1881 and has been in business for 145 years, has finalised a management buyout operation that transfers ownership to top management, while the Gavazzi/Torrani family, the historical partner, retains a minority share. A move that aims to hold together two needs that are often difficult to reconcile: the continuity of a long industrial tradition and the acceleration of development, innovation and positioning in the most advanced markets.
In an Italia industrial fabric where the issue of the generational handover is becoming increasingly crucial, Gavazzi is thus taking the path of entrusting the company to someone who knows its structure, skills and prospects intimately. The family, now in its fifth generation, felt that the best way to guarantee the company's future was to hand over the helm to a management already immersed in the group's industrial life.
The new company structure was created with a clear course. Priorities include strengthening the company's position in higher value-added segments, business development, product innovation, industrial efficiency, sustainability and growth in advanced industrial applications and composite materials.
The trajectory is consistent with the evolution of the company based in Calolziocorte, in the province of Lecco. Founded in traditional textiles, Gavazzi has shifted its centre of gravity since the Seventies towards high-performance technical fabrics, building over time an international presence and a position of excellence in its reference markets, in Italia and abroad. The management buyout is therefore not a break, but a coherent development of a long industrial history, which is now trying to relaunch itself by leveraging the technical and professional know-how accumulated over more than a century of activity.
