Gaza, Kallas: 'Board of Peace does not reflect UN resolution'. Idf strikes two "terrorists" in the Strip
Meanwhile, the Emirates have sent over 7,000 tonnes of humanitarian aid. Egypt and Jordan call for an international stabilisation force
Two Palestinian 'terrorists' who entered a building on the Israeli side of the ceasefire line - or Yellow Line - in Gaza, in the north of the Strip, were hit by an airstrike during the night, the Israeli army announced. According to the IDF, after the two were identified by soldiers, the Israeli Air Force bombed the building "to remove the threat".
Emirati humanitarian aid
Meanwhile, the United Arab Emirates sent a ship with 7,300 tonnes of humanitarian aid destined for the Gaza Strip from the port of Khalifa in Abu Dhabi. This was announced by the Emirates Ministry of Defence. According to the statement published in X, sixteen Emirati charitable and humanitarian organisations participated in the preparation of the cargo, which includes foodstuffs, housing materials and medicines.
Kallas: "Board of Peace does not reflect UN resolution"
"Yes, it is true that the UN Security Council resolution provided for a Board of Peace for Gaza, but it also provided for it to be limited in time until 2027, it provided for the Palestinians to have a say, and it referred to Gaza, whereas the statute of the Board of Peace makes no reference to any of these things". This was said by EU High Representative Kaja Kallas during her speech at the Munich conference, in conversation with US Ambassador to the UN Mike Waltz. "So I think there is a Security Council resolution but the Board of Peace does not reflect it."
Von der Leyen will not be at inauguration Board of Peace
In line with statements by High Representative Kallas, the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyenn will not attend the inaugural meeting of the 'Board of Peace' for Gaza, scheduled to take place in Washington on Thursday 19 February, despite the invitation received from the Trump Administration.
The spokesperson for Foreign Affairs stated: 'President von der Leyen did indeed receive an invitation to the Board of Peace meeting on 19 February. Our position remains unchanged and has been very clear from the outset: we have a number of questions on different elements of the 'Board of Peace' Statute, relating to its scope, its 'governance' and its compatibility with the UN Charter'.
