After the idea of turning Gaza into the 'Riviera of the Mediterranean', the US administration unveiled a new lavish real estate investment plan for the Strip. On 22 January, in his speech in Davos at the World Economic Forum, Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner, already involved in the Middle East negotiations, unveiled the 'master plan' for Gaza's future.
The face of the new Gaza
"We said to ourselves: let's plan a catastrophic success," said Kushner as he presented a series of slides with images and maps showing the face of the "new Gaza", an ambitious real estate development project with futuristic gratistas, transport hubs, energy infrastructure and a renovated waterfront.
All of this is to be built in place of the rubble that currently covers much of the territory of the Strip, after more than two years of Israeli bombardment that has claimed over 70,000 lives. The announcement of the building plan came on the sidelines of the signing of the "Board of Peace" for the Gaza administration .
In the intentions of the Americans, the programme will include 'housing for workers, 100 per cent employment and opportunities for all', including coastal tourism. "There is a master plan. They're building it in three years," Kushner said showing slides of the project, and added: "we don't have a plan B
Disarmament of Hamas necessary for investment
Even the American president, during his speech, recalled his experiences in real estate, referring to Gaza as "this beautiful piece of property".
