Gaza, journalists' appeal: 'Let us in'

A terrible tragedy is unfolding in Gaza that has also prompted Pope Leo and President Mattarella to denounce the lack of respect for human rights.

It is essential to witness what is happening in Gaza through the eyes of independent journalism, gathering the stories and voices of the defenceless population. The presence of independent information can help protect women, children, and the elderly from cruelty, persecution and war crimes.

We call on the Italian government to promote, both with the Israeli authorities and in the European forum, a resolute initiative to allow foreign journalists to enter the Strip.
