Tuesday’s prolonged closure, which led to the cancellation of over 1,000 flights and left hundreds of thousands of passengers stranded, has increased the pressure on the air traffic control service provider Nats and its director, Martin Rolfe.
The British Transport Minister, Heidi Alexander, will hear from Rolfe today, having summoned him to provide clarification on the incident, in light of concerns regarding the inadequacy of the infrastructure and technology.
“I am calling for assurances that lessons will be learnt from what has happened and that the systems supporting aviation are up to the task,” Alexander said on X.
