Electricity prices “systematically higher” than those of EU competitors

The price of electricity “is consistently higher than that of European competitors” (+35 per cent compared with Germany in the first nine months of 2026) and in September rose to a peak of 208 euros/MWh, up from 114 in February, before the start of the war in the Middle East. Compared with six years ago, the report notes, the share of energy costs (oil, gas, electricity and other sources) in total costs has risen by 34.5 per cent (and by 40 per cent in the manufacturing sector alone).
