Gene Hackman's wife's online research reveals details of the actor's death from hantavirus
Gene Hackman: what the survey results say
Betsy Arakawa, wife of actor Gene Hackman, searched the internet for information on influenza and Covid symptoms and breathing techniques in the days leading up to his death, which occurred last February 2025 at the couple's home in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
According to documents released by the Santa Fe sheriff, as reported by the New York Times, Arakawa had done Google searches to try to figure out whether Covid could cause dizziness or nosebleeds (bleeding from nasal passages, ed.).
The 65-year-old pianist died of hantavirus, which can cause flu-like symptoms and develop into a life-threatening lung condition.
Police authorities believe that the woman died around 12 February 2025 and that her famous husband, 95 years old and suffering from Alzheimer's disease, died on 18 February.
Their bodies were found on 26 February 2025.
