Three stages, three different cities, in search of a highest common denominator: the possibility of finding a 'new Renaissance' in the cultural sphere. This is the aim of the States General for Culture 2024. The event makes a stop for the first time in Southern Italy, opening this new edition at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo on 24 October. It will then be followed by Milan, at the Pirelli Headquartes, on 29 October, and will close on 5 November at the Cavallerizza Reale in Turin. In Palermo, specifically, we will discuss about technologies and the use of cultural heritage, and how these are changing, and in what sense, the production of culture, trying to understand if it is possible to speak of a new 'Renaissance'. The overall title of the 2024 edition is in fact "Contemporary Renaissance", which condenses the objective of analysing the most topical themes and the sensitivities that are emerging, especially in relation to the great ferment produced by new technologies - artificial intelligence in particular - on the fruition and production of culture. At the centre of the debate between public and private stakeholders and major players in the world of culture, all the relevant industries: from music to publishing, from cinema to television. From music to publishing, from cinema to television.
Inevitably, special attention will be paid to the theme - which has always characterised past editions of the Stati Generali della Cultura del Sole 24 Ore - of the public-private relationship, the role of cultural and creative enterprises and, more generally, the value of the action carried out by those companies that contribute directly to the preservation and enhancement of Italian heritage.
Three different yet complementary agendas, which make it possible to consider the Stati Generali della Cultura as a single major event in three stages, divided into three different content cuts but linked by a single, coherent thread. In Milan, the focus will be on the importance of public and private investments in the culture sector for the country and its development, especially in light of the role that cultural heritage plays in Italy's international recognition. The focus of the third and last stage, in Turin, will be on business culture as an engine for development and innovation, the role of art and cultural programming in the transformation of cities. And again, space will be given to the world of social media as a dissemination tool, the innovation capacity of museums, and generational changes in the public. The event is open to the public.
