Marco Rocca, patron of the Mottolino ski area in Livigno, outlined the future of the snow area, confirming the willingness to invest in new facilities and the family business, in which his children Ian and Valentina enter with management roles. "The future belongs to those who have the courage, strength and determination to believe in their dreams, no matter how big or small," was the premise of Marco Rocca, CEO of Mottolino. Among the new realisations in the area is the replacement of the Mottolino-Ponte Bondio gondola, a work that is one of those planned for the 2026 Milan-Cortina Olympics and realised with project financing, and the Sponda-Pianoni Bassi chairlift, built with private funds. Both are already in operation in view of the opening of the 2024/2025 ski season.

These plant innovations are in addition to the rebranding of the destination with the new logo and the claim that to 'Fun' now adds 'Innovation. Dynamism. Versatile'. As far as top management is concerned, Marco Rocca will continue to hold the position of CEO, flanked by his sisters Sara and Anna, who as directors have contributed to the evolution and growth of the company. Ian Rocca, 27, a freestyle skiing athlete who won the SlopeStyle European Cup in 2018 and content creator, has joined the board. To him the delegation for the Olympics. His sister Valentina, 24 years old and engaged in international studies, is entrusted with the direction of the Camanel refuge in Planon.

"I am particularly happy because this family is an emblem of what Livigno is all about: vision, innovation, commitment," commented Fabio Massimo Saldini, Ceo Società infrastrutture Milano Cortina 2026 and Government Commissioner, speaking at an event. "Ever since I had the chance to visit this place where I now feel at home, I have known the tireless activity of the Rocca family, which immediately showed openness and the ability to invest - not only for a legitimate personal and economic return - but also for a far-sightedness capable of making the territory in which they live grow.

In Livigno, the Olympics have brought over 350 million euros of investment. "Then there is the community that invests, as the Rocca family is doing. All together we have decided to play this game to make Livigno, Valtellina and Italy look good,' said Remo Galli, mayor of the town, 'with special attention to our young people who, thanks to the Olympics, will have one more opportunity.

One of the first investments made for the Olympics is the new Mottolino headquarters, a large multifunctional space that, among other things, includes the company's offices, ticket offices, sports equipment rental, ski school, ski depot, coworking area and two catering hubs. The first is Kosmo Taste the Mountain linked to the concept of sustainable mountain gastronomy, proposing a culinary offer centred on the products of the Alpine territory inspired by Norbert Niederkofler's 'Cook the mountains' philosophy. And under the guidance of Siria Fedrigucci, Téa del Kosmo, one of Livigno's very first fine dining restaurants, was born in July 2023.

Mottolino's history began 41 years ago and the number of annual passages has multiplied from almost 1.7 million in the 1982/1983 season to close to 5 million in 2022/23, while today the aim is to surpass the 5 million mark by focusing on the mix of innovation and new forms of fun in the snow.

Now everything is projected towards the Olympic weeks. Among the new disciplines will be the first freestyle whose competitions will take place in Mottolino. Freestyle made its debut in the ski resort over thirty years ago thanks to the passion of a group of friends who built the first halfpipe. The snowpark at Mottolino is one of the first to take shape not only in Italy, but also in Europe. And in 1998, the '1816 White Snowboard association' was founded. It is the first time that a real team of "shapers", the professionals in the construction of the snowpark structures, comes to life, employed during the winter season in the construction and maintenance of the jumps. Since then, growth has been exponential in terms of dedicated resources, with the launch of events and activities organised ad hoc. It is no coincidence, therefore, that the movement has grown in terms of facilities and number of fans, who now form a new winter sports community.
