Geox invests in innovation and launches the (patented) anti-hot sandal
President Polegato: "Innovation is an integral model and one of the indispensable tools to revive the economy of this country, and I hope that those with institutional responsibilities will work more in this direction"
Summer 2026 marks a return to the roots for Geox: if, in fact, the company was born in the early Nineties from the intuition of Mario Moretti Polegato who thought of perforating the sole of shoes to let the foot "breathe", more than thirty years later it has returned to accelerate innovation and has launched on the market a new patented sandal, for men and women, designed to counter the effect of high temperatures.
The Climasandal, in keeping with Geox's tradition, is based on a technology that was developed in-house and then patented: "It is the result of the work of a team of young people who trained in our in-house school," explained president Mario Moretti Polegato. "The basic idea was to improve a product, the sandal, that accounts for 60% of the sales of summer collections but has never been the subject of serious innovation over the years. Our team, however, in the light of the effects of climate change, came up with the idea of creating a 'cooling' sandal'.
On a technical level, the Climasandal by Geox - which today is a group worth around 418 million euro with 570 shops worldwide (data as at 31 December 2025) - allows air to circulate inside the sole of the sandal thanks to the Ventilated Cushion System, a cushion - pump placed under the heel that compresses during walking and activates the flow of air, which is then channelled towards the forefoot.
While the official launch of the women's and men's models took place yesterday in Milan - where it has already exceeded 35° Celsius - 13,000 pairs of sandals have already been placed on the market 'in a number of selected shops in key markets such as France, Spain, Middle East as well as in Italia' with positive feedback. The Climasandal collection will then go 'full steam ahead' in spring summer 2027 . "I am proud to stimulate young people towards research, made-in-Italy innovation and the protection of intellectual property," said Moretti Polegato. "Innovation is an integral model and one of the indispensable tools to revive the economy of this country, and I hope that those with institutional responsibilities will work more in this direction, choosing this example and stimulating young people.
