Germany: exit polls show the AfD at 37 per cent in Mecklenburg and the Left Party in first place in Berlin

(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) – Milan, 20 September – The first exit polls from the latest round of elections in Germany are in. The AfD stands at 37 per cent in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, ahead of the SPD on 35.5 per cent, whilst Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s CDU is at 5.5 per cent, just above the electoral threshold. In Berlin, however, the first figures show Die Linke on 24.5 per cent, followed by the CDU on 20 per cent and the AfD on 16 per cent.
