In Germany the rise in the polls of the ultra-right continues, which six weeks after the vote caught up with the conservatives of Friedrich Merz for the first time. According to Insa, published by Bild over the weekend, Afd and the Union (Cdu-Csu) are both given 24% of the vote.

On 23 February, the results at the polls were still 8 points behind, with the Christian Democrats at 28.5% and Alternative at 20.8. The data put pressure on Chancellor in pectore Merz, who is engaged in negotiations with Lars Klingbeil's Social Democrats over the coalition programme. In the Sunday trend poll, the Spd is stuck at 16%.
