Record growth for Gewiss, with turnover exceeding 820 million. Start-up Reair acquired
EBITDA at 136 million. The Bergamo-based group consolidates the Beghelli acquisition and enters the clean tech sector
Key points
Seven M&A transactions in less than 36 months, the most significant of which – in terms of scale and brand recognition – was probably the acquisition of Beghelli (completed in March 2025), a long-established Italian brand specialising in emergency lighting and safety solutions. These transactions, combined with the group’s organic growth, enabled Gewiss to close 2025 with record revenue of €824 million (up 33% on 2024), with an EBITDA of 136 million, up 24 per cent on the previous year and 175 per cent on 2020, the year in which the chairman of the Bergamo-based group, Fabio Bosatelli, launched the new business vision and growth strategy.
Expanding the range
A strategy he himself has renamed ‘Minds’, which stands for the four key drivers for transforming the company and realising its full potential: managerialisation, internationalisation, digitalisation and sustainability.
Following a year focused primarily on the integration and consolidation of its operations, Gewiss has secured a new acquisition, finalised yesterday, which enables the group to enter a new sector with great potential: ‘healthy building’. This will complement and expand Gewiss’s existing portfolio in the sectors of home & building automation, energy protection and distribution, electric mobility and smart lighting, through its portfolio companies (in addition to Beghelli, these include Performance in Lighting, Pulsar Engineering, Tvilight, Elmet, Verde21 and VDA Telkonet). The group has acquired a 51 per cent stake in ReAir, a start-up specialising in solutions for environmental and air sanitisation. “This is a significant acquisition, not so much in terms of size – given that it is a start-up – but from an industrial perspective and in terms of the value proposition, as it enables us to offer increasingly advanced and integrated solutions to our customers,” explains Paolo Cervini, CEO of Gewiss.
Entrepreneurship and Management
It is this integrated approach that, over the last six years, has enabled the company to transform itself from a centre of excellence – primarily product-focused, Italia-centred and with an ‘enterprise value’ of around 500 million euros, as it stood in 2020 – – into a group with 3,500 employees, operating in 53 countries, which aims to achieve a valuation of 2 billion euros by 2028. These results have been achieved thanks to the combination of the entrepreneurial vision and values upheld by the chairman and the Bosatelli family, alongside the managerial expertise of the CEO and the executive committee, and thanks to a growth strategy based, as Cervini explains, ‘on organic growth, selective M&A, international expansion, intra-group synergies, sustainability and the ability to execute’.
“The figures confirm that a vision only creates value when it is translated into concrete decisions that remain consistent over time,” says Bosatelli. “In recent years, we have continued to invest in people, skills, industrial capacity, innovation and openness to international markets. We have strengthened the group through acquisitions that have expanded its scope, but also by integrating complementary technologies, expertise and businesses.”
