Giffoni Film Festival 2024 between Paolo Sorrentino and Elly Schlein

The panel of films in competition we already knew. Now we also have the details of the previews, the meetings with the stars of show business and politics, the masterclasses, the side events and concerts: everything Giffoni Film Festival does. From 19 to 28 July 5000 "jurors" from 33 nations will be the protagonists of Giffoni54, the 54th edition of the international festival for young people, which started out as a film festival and now spans a multi-cultural and multimedia field.

Over 100 films in competition from all over the world with 50 international directors attending the festival. The full programme was presented this morning by director general Jacopo Gubitosi and director Luca Apolito. The illusion of distance is the theme of this edition. There will be five premieres: The Last Week in September with Diego Abatantuono; Parikrama - The Story of Lala with Marco Leonardi and Cristina Donadio; Ozi - The Voice of the Forest by Tim Harper, produced by Leonardo Dicaprio; The Magical World of Harold, a new film by Carlos Saldanha; How to Make Mum and Dad Fight with Giampaolo Morelli and Carolina Crescentini.

The meetings with 250 young people, under 30, in the Impact! section, will include speakers such as Paolo Bonolis, writer Viola Ardone, astronaut Walter Villadei, journalist Paolo Celata and many others. The President of the Campania Region, Vincenzo De Luca, will open on 19 July. In the following days there will be, among others, Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti, Sports Minister Andrea Abodi, the President of the Italian Bishops' Conference, Cardinal Matteo Zuppi, and several political leaders: Elly Schlein, Giuseppe Conte, and Nicola Fratoianni have already confirmed their presence.

Twenty-six special events, among them: Parthenope by Paolo Sorrentino; On the Most Beautiful - The Series with the cast; Suspended by Paolo Ruffini with the guests of the San Patrignano Community;The Art of Joy with Valeria Golino, Tecla Insolia, Alma Noce and Giuseppe Spata; and The Boy with the Pink Pants for which, accompanying the cast, will be Teresa Manes, mother of Andrea Spezzacatena, who on 20 November 2012 took his own life after being bullied numerous times. On 23 July, Lino Guanciale arrives in Giffoni for the first time. On Thursday 25 July Giffoni is ready to welcome back Alessandro Borghi, fresh from the success of the Netflix TV series Supersex. And again, among others, Lea Gavino, The Jackal, the revelation actress of the year Romana Maggiora Vergano, Mattia and Chiara Fabiano. Saturday 27 July will be Gabriele Muccino's turn. Meanwhile, Giffoners aged 18 to 30 will be able to take part in a section totally designed for those who want to make cinema their job. Starring, among others, Giovanna Mezzogiorno, Marco D'Amore and Oscar winner Jonathan Wang. Alongside the cinema events there will be marketing ones, linked to a panel of sponsors ranging from Acea to Easy Jet, from FotoEma to Gruppo Noviello, passing through Piazza Italia, Trenitalia, UniCredit and Conai.
