"Becoming human is the most extraordinary challenge of all. It is to really look at ourselves. It is finding hidden paths, creating new bonds, breaking down invisible walls and discovering - with amazement - that we are much closer than we think": these are the words with which the 55th edition of the Giffoni Film Festival 2025, the event dedicated to the very young, was presented.

Scheduled from 17 to 26 July, this year's edition includes 5000 jurors from 30 countries around the world, hundreds of cities and small towns in Italy,

"And now, here is the great Giffoni! - said Giffoni's founder and creator, Claudio Gubitosi - I wholeheartedly thank our President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, for the High Patronage he granted to this edition. A recognition that moves me to tears, makes me proud and charges us all with great responsibility".

The responsibility is above all towards the generations that are forming today, and the festival's policy has always been to educate the eye to cinema and audiovisuals through a rich programme, divided between titles in competition, numerous premieres and many guests with whom the Salerno audience will be able to engage with throughout the days of the festival.

The Previews

Unicorns", the new film by Michela Andreozzi, will be the opening premiere of #Giffoni55: the film starring Edoardo Pesce and Valentina Lodovini will be screened on the first day of the festival, Thursday 17 July.

On 19 July it will be time for 'Tutta colpa del Rock' by Andrea Jublin, the new film produced by Be Water Film and PiperFilm, in collaboration with Netflix. At the centre of the story is Bruno, a former rock guitarist in free fall: chronic liar, egotist, narcissist and absent father.

Tutta colpa del Rock

If on 20 July the little ones will be waiting for 'The Smurfs - The Movie', even more interesting is the 25 July premiere of 'Too Bad', a new feature film by DreamWorks Animation to be released in cinemas in August.

Other previews include 'Esprimi un desiderio' (Make a Wish), a film directed by Volfango De Biasi starring the unprecedented duo of Max Angioni, making his big screen debut, and Diego Abatantuono.

There is also much anticipation on 23 July for the new feature film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe entitled 'The Fantastic 4 - The Beginnings'.

Tim Burton

There has never been a shortage of international guests at Giffoni, but this year there is a truly exceptional name in the form of Tim Burton.

On the occasion of the arrival on Netflix of the second season of 'Wednesday' - with part one available from 6 August and part two from 3 September - Tim Burton will meet the Giffoni audience on Friday 25 July.

Another moving event will be the tribute to Pino Daniele, to remember him ten years after his death, with the screening of the documentary 'Pino' by Francesco Lettieri.

Through rare footage of concerts, backstage and studio sessions, previously unreleased tracks, family photographs, personal notes and musical instruments, the documentary restores an authentic portrait of the Neapolitan artist.
