There is a new generation of film buffs who have fallen in love with moving images starting with... sound. From dubbing, to be precise: what, until a few decades ago, was perceived as a minor art among the cinema professions, has, thanks to the web, conquered a renewed centrality in the minds and, above all, in the hearts of young film buffs who, when they can and as they can, try their hand at it and then upload their creations onto the web.
This is the direction of The Voices of Cinema, the project launched this year by Radioimmaginaria, the teenagers' radio station, at the 55th edition of the Giffoni Film Festival, underway at Giffoni Valle Piana until 26 July: a real dubbing experience open to jurors and teenage visitors who can try their hand at dubbing scenes from their favourite films. Guiding them are professional actors and dubbers such as Luca Biagini (the Italian voice of John Malkovich, Colin Firth, Hugh Laurie), Greta Domenica Esposito (Mare Fuori, Il Gattopardo, Mixed By Erry), Luigi D'Oriano (Mixed By Erry) and Mario Giarola.
All this in parallel with Radio Immaginaria's traditional programming from the Giffoni Film Festival. Ti accompagnagno al mare, the radio station's flagship summer programme, is for example broadcast from Giffoni. From 3 to 3:30 p.m. one can follow live Check-In, Radioimmaginaria's international programme involving jurors from different countries around the world. This will be followed, from 4 to 5 p.m., by Stonati a Giffoni, which will tell the behind-the-scenes story of the world of cinema.
