The 55th edition of the Giffoni Film Festival, the kermesse entirely dedicated to children's cinema, is about to start. From 17 to 26 July it will welcome 5 thousand young jurors from 30 countries and hundreds of Italian cities. A highly respectable edition, considering the carnet of guests ranging from icon Tim Burton to Oscar winner Paolo Sorrentino, from Toni Servillo to Luca Marinelli, passing through Ambra Angiolini, Giovanni Allevi, Virginia Raffaele and Ornella Muti.
This year the theme chosen is "Becoming Human", an invitation to awareness, empathy and collective responsibility in a world undergoing profound transformations. Giffoni questions, together with its young protagonists, what it really means to be human today. The programme includes the screening of 99 films in competition, selected from over 2,500 international productions, with the presence of 50 directors from all over the world. Six premieres, more than 20 special events and a total of 120 guests.
Specifically, Tim Burton on 25 July will greet the Netflix debut of the second season of Wednesday. Sorrentino will be en route to the Festival on 23 July, two days after his fetish actor Servillo. Marinelli will accompany director Alissa Jung on 24 July for her debut Paternal Leave. Allevi will also be on stage on 23 July.
There will also be moments of discussion and in-depth analysis, such as the second edition of Giffoni Sport, which will see the participation of prominent athletes such as Bebe Vio, Simone Fontecchio, Andy Diaz Hernandez and Ambra Sabatini, and the "IMPACT!" meetings with 200 young people under 30 who will dialogue with personalities from the world of science, culture and institutions. Great live music also returns with free live music showcases with artists such as Rocco Hunt, BigMama, TrigNO and Benji & Fede.
