"The historical series since 1995 will have a correction, certainly it will be a modest upward correction, but an upward correction" and "it is clear that this will in some way condition the data and therefore with respect to the objectives that we have to present to Europe and in Parliament a little something changes, but it will not be the solution to the problems". So said Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti, interviewed at the Open Festival by Enrico Mentana and Franco Bechis.

Giorgetti: from 2024 primary budget balance

"There are no treasuries, also because we are committed to the mission of restoring public finances," the economy minister added. "I believe," he explained, "that already by 2024 we will reach the goal of a balanced primary budget," before interest payments.

"We will make the wedge cut structural"

.

"We are committed not only to confirm but also to make structural" the "cut in the wedge and the reduction of the three rates," Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti said again. Asked whether the budget law will be 25 billion Giorgetti said that the budget law "must be at least 0.5 per cent correction".

"Sceptical about agreement on common European debt"

.

Giorgetti then said he was 'rather sceptical that an agreement on the common debt could be reached in Europe'. And he added: 'Every time I proposed at unchanged conditions, at an unchanged amount simply the extension of the possibility of using the Pnrr, and I thank Governor Panetta who yesterday proved me right', within Ecofin 'the drumbeat of the German, Swedish, Finnish ministers starts'. 'I have no great echo, honestly for the common European debt under these conditions I would be rather sceptical,' he concluded.

"Pnrr delegation will not return to MEF, ad hoc structure needed"

With respect to the responsibility for the NRP, once Minister Raffaele Fitto had gone to Brussels, it is 'right that there should be a structure dedicated to the purpose and the aim' while as Mef 'we already have a lot of things to do,' Giorgetti added. Regarding the hypothesis that Giorgetti himself had claimed the delegation, the minister retorted: 'No, I have not claimed anything'.
