Gomorra stars in a double date for Treseizero - Media Pop Fest
A two-day free event with magistrates, journalists and a character from the award-winning series based on Roberto Saviano's novel, which this year celebrates its 20th anniversary since its release
Key points
Talking to the new generations to build a different future under the banner of the fight against organised crime and all forms of youth deviance. With a double date set for 8 and 9 May 2026, the second edition of TreSeiZero - Media Pop FEST, the festival promoted by ÀP - Antimafia Pop Academy, arrives in Rome in the spaces of Cinecittà-Don Bosco in via Contardo Ferrini 83. The kermesse - now in its second edition - this year is inspired by Gomorrah, one of the literary works and TV productions that has been able to hold the audience's attention.
The Why of Gomorrah
An explicit and direct title that immediately refers to what has been one of the most popular series in recent years. The choice of name for this edition of the festival has fallen on Gomorra. Between the meshes of the System, letting itself be inspired by Roberto Saviano's novel on the occasion of the twentieth anniversary of its publication.
Pages that have helped rewrite a new global imagery of organised crime. A series that travels to topical places such as the feud of Scampia, the emergence of the 'Terra dei fuochi' issue and the great camorra trials. Hence, the choice of TreSeiZero - Media Pop FEST to take the book out of the bookshops and bring it to the centre of the festival through debates, exhibitions and performances for the public.
'Twenty years after Gomorrah,' comments Pasquale Grosso, president of ÀP - Antimafia Pop Academy, 'we are not interested in taking stock of a work, but in starting from there to take a better look at reality. Gomorra has opened a gash, made visible what for too long remained hidden. Today for us it is a starting point, a pretext to talk about the many 'Gomorra' that cross our country: territories marked by marginality, inequality, poverty and denied rights. Because the 'System' is not just a tale: it is a structure that continues to produce exclusion, and which we can only counter by building new possibilities and new imaginaries".
The programme travelling through the pages of the novel
A programme full of appointments that will be divided into thematic panels inspired by the chapters of the book and its TV transposition - from "System" to "Port", from "Cemento armato" to "Kalashnikov" and "Hollywood" - to touch on topics such as drug trafficking, criminal economies, urban suburbs, environmental impact and the role of education.
