The Girolamini Complex and Library, one of the great monuments in the historic centre of Naples, was reopened after decades last March. During two weekends in September, the church will resound with the great Neapolitan sacred music, with scores, some of them in their first modern performance, mostly kept in the Girolamini Historical Archive. The Palazzetto Bru Zane's autumn festival kicks off in Venice, dedicated to French romantic music. In Trento, opening of the 38th Ancient Music Festival.
Naples
Two exceptional weekends at the Complesso dei Girolamini. On 14-15 and 21-22 September at 12 noon in the Church-Museum definitively returned to public visitation since last March, four concerts of Baroque music, with a repertoire strongly linked to the history of the Neapolitan Oratorio (Giovanni Salvatore, Leonardo Leo, Giovan Battista Pergolesi, Francesco Feo, among others), with scores, some of them in their first modern performance, largely preserved in the recently digitised Historical Archive. The concerts will be preceded - at 11 a.m. - by a meeting with experts from various disciplines who will recall the artistic and cultural context of a time that was extremely significant for the monument and the city: a journey of discovery and knowledge of the Institute's extremely rich musical heritage. Great ensembles will perform this music: on the 14th and 22nd the Cappella Neapolitana conducted by Antonio Florio; on the 15th the Concerto Italiano conducted by Rinaldo Alessandrini; on the 21st the Baroque Orchestra of the Duni Festival conducted by Francesco D'Orazio.
Venice
On the 21st at the Scuola Grande di S. Giovanni Evangelista the Palazzetto Bru Zane - Centre de Musique Romantique Française Season kicks off; entitled Passione Violoncello, it is divided into seven concerts, until 24 October. In the first appointment the Quatuor Cambini-Paris, music by Baudiot, Franchomme, Gouvy.
In 2025 there will be a double occasion to celebrate Georges Bizet: the 150th anniversary of the premiere of Carmen and the death of its author. In the festival 'Bizet, Rebel Love', from 29 March to 16 May, seven concerts will allow us to discover an avant-garde musical production and a legacy that goes far beyond the success of Carmen. We recall 'Le Docteur Miracle', Bizet's first opera, presented in concert form at the Scuola Grande San Giovanni Evangelista on Sunday 30 March.
Trento
On the 22nd at S. Francesco Saverio a good opportunity to hear the motets of the great seventeenth-century Giacomo Carissimi, with the Ensemble Seicentonovecento. The concert opens the 38th edition of Trento Musica Antica, which continues until 29 November, focusing on vocal music, sacred and secular, from the 13th to the 17th century.
