Agreement signed between REair and Acrobatica to improve air quality in Italian cities - Frosinone the worst

A green revolution in real estate with the aim of improving air quality in Italian cities. This is the gist of the agreement just signed between REair and Acrobatica.

The objective is to transform the real estate assets of major Italian cities into a powerful vehicle for the reduction of the main pollutants (nitrogen oxides and organic PM dust) that impact on air quality and a general improvement in the healthiness of the environment and quality of life of citizens. This is how the strategic partnership signed by REair (a research, development and production company active in the field of eco-technologies) with Acrobatica (a leading company in Italy and Europe in the 'double safety rope' operational building sector) is operational.

"The agreement proposes a renewed urban, architectural and environmental vision in which the façades of buildings, monuments and homes and interior spaces are transformed into 'invisible forests' - the two companies explain in a note - becoming an active part in promoting people's wellbeing and health and transforming cities, from the centre to the periphery, into living, sustainable ecosystems.

Strategic Alliance

.

A mission that, from 2019, sees REair committed through the use of ecological, transparent coatings that are easy to apply on any type of surface, safe and whose effectiveness in reducing pollutants and the degradation of microorganisms in indoor environments is certified by tests carried out by international laboratories accredited according to UNI EN and ISO standards. "The sustainability of REair products also translates into economic benefits, allowing an improvement in performance and a 50% reduction in cleaning and maintenance costs," the company explains. The Milan-based company, with its products based on photocatalytic technologies, has treated, between Europe and the USA, over 600 thousand square metres of outdoor and indoor surfaces with an average reduction in nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions of 120 thousand kg, the equivalent of planting 288 thousand trees in the city.

Bad air in the city

The fight against smog in Italian cities is still uphill. As Legambiente denounces, despite a reduction in air pollutant levels by 2023, cities are struggling to accelerate the pace towards a substantial improvement in air quality. Their current levels have been stable for several years now, in line with current legislation, but they remain far from the regulatory limits that will soon be approved by the EU, scheduled for 2030, and above all from the values suggested by the World Health Organisation (WHO), highlighting the need for a firm commitment that can no longer be postponed to protect people's health.

"The data of our report Mal'Aria di città 2024 _ explains Legambiente _ in which we analysed the 2023 data in the provincial capitals, both with regard to the levels of fine particulate matter (PM10, PM2.5) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2), speak for themselves. In summary, 18 cities out of the 98 monitored exceeded the current regulatory limits for PM10 exceedances (35 days per year with a daily average above 50 micrograms/cubic metre)'.

There were 29 outlawed cities in 2022 and 31 in 2021. And those who think that the most polluted city is Milan are wrong. At the top of the city list is Frosinone (with the Frosinone Scalo plant) with 70 days of exceedances, twice the permitted values, followed by Turin (Grassi) with 66, Treviso (strada S. Agnese) 63 and Mantua (via Ariosto), Padua (Arcella) and Venice (via Beccaria) with 62. The three Veneto cities, Rovigo (Centro), Verona (B.go Milano) and Vicenza (Ferrovieri), also exceed 50 days, 55, 55 and 53 respectively. Milan (Senato) records 49 days, Asti (Baussano) 47, Cremona (P.zza Cadorna) 46, Lodi (V.le Vignati) 43, Brescia (Villaggio Sereno) and Monza (via Machiavelli) 40. Closing the list are Alessandria (D'Annunzio) with 39, Naples (Ospedale Pellerini) and Ferrara (Isonzo) with 36.

In short, Italian cities, from North to South, still lag considerably behind the more stringent values proposed by the revision of the European Air Quality Directive that will come into force in 2030 (20 µg/mc for PM10, 10 µg/mc for PM2.5 and 20 µg/mc for NO2).

The basis for a foreign landing

.

This is the context for the partnership signed by REair with Acrobatica , which covers the entire range of REair products for both outdoor and indoor and concerns the entire Italian territory, with the possibility of extending the agreement in the future also to some of the main luxury metropolises (Paris, Dubai and Montecarlo) where Acrobatica operates. It is a source of great pride for REair to be able to announce the signing of this important strategic partnership with Acrobatica, thanks to which we aim to spread our products and technological applications," declares Raffaella Moro, CEO of REair. "In this way, thanks to Acrobatica's capillarity, we wish to offer a concrete contribution to the liveability of the city and the aesthetic enhancement of both historical offices and the best contemporary architecture, encouraging metropolises to use ecological solutions capable of reducing the impact of pollutants in the maintenance of building facades. At the same time, in harmony with the various public and private institutions, it will also make citizens aware of the potential of new technologies to produce real and rapid change and improve the quality of life even in the suburbs. "REair in fact has an ESG vision of the entire urban system and a democratic approach that benefits the entire city in its various residential realities. Sustainability in fact,' concludes Raffaella Moro, 'must also be democratic, otherwise it cannot be sustainable'.

"We are particularly happy with this partnership with REair," commented Anna Marras, CEO of EdiliziAcrobatica S.p.A, "because it allows us to further strengthen our commitment to sustainability. A commitment that we have been carrying out since we were born 30 years ago and which is linked to our know-how that is based on the use of ropes and allows us to carry out renovation works quickly and safely. We are confident that together with REair and its innovative products we will be able to create more and more value for the environment and people.
