Gualtieri: from 1 February at the Trevi Fountain 2 euro ticket for tourists
Six monumental sites and museums that until now were free of charge: Trevi Fountain - only for the entrance in front of the basin with a two-euro ticket -, Villa di Massenzio, Napoleonic Museum, Carlo Baracco Museum, Pilotti Museum and Canonica Museum
"From 1 February in Rome there will be a ticket" for tourists "for six monumental sites and museums that until now were free: Trevi Fountain - only for the entrance in front of the basin with a two-euro ticket -, Villa di Massenzio, Museo Napoleonico, Museo Carlo Baracco, Museo Pilotti and Museo Canonica". This was announced by the Mayor of Rome Roberto Gualtieri at a press conference in the Sala Esedra. "Totally free all the museums and monumental sites of Roma Capitale for residents of Rome and the metropolitan city from 1 February," he specified.
Gualtieri: with the ticket for the Trevi Fountain we estimate 6.5 million a year
With the 2 euro ticket for access to the area facing the Trevi Fountain "we estimate revenue of 6.5 million a year". This was said by the mayor of Rome Roberto Gualtieri at a conference in the Sala Esedra at the Capitoline Museums. The estimate is made on the basis of the number of visitors in the last year in which restricted access was free of charge. "We had 9 million tourists, an average of 30,000 per day, with peaks of even 70,000 per day," explained Gualtieri. Admission, even for tourists, will only be free from '10pm at night until 9am', he added.
