8.2% of the 2025 growth leaders, in the Sole 24 Ore and Statista rankings, operate in the energy and utilities sector: a sector that in terms of number of companies (41) overall ranks third after construction/engineering and IT, capable of surpassing even the latter sector when considering average annual growth: 70%.
The green transition, the shift to increasingly renewable modes of energy production and increasingly widespread energy efficiency actions are among the reasons for these results. This is the field of work of the top three companies in the special ranking: Tecnogreen (see piece opposite), Energetica Store and Energy Solutions. Christian Castiello, director of the Milan-based Energetica Store (3.4 million euros in revenues in 2023 with a CAGR of 199%), which mainly accompanies companies in processes of efficiency enhancement through solar energy, explains how, starting from the request for a standard photovoltaic system, "new developments include the coupling with heat pumps, but also storage systems, and possibly recharging stations for company fleets. For our customers there is not only energy saving but also an improvement of the ESG criteria: there is an economic and reputational return'. And he points to Cer (renewable energy communities) as another new direction for development: 'A hot area in which we are setting up several projects.
Federico Montesi, sole director of Energy Solutions (Edison's installer partner for Central Italy, 39,500 euro in revenues in 2023 with a CAGR of 164%) also touches the Cer key in his forecasts for the new year: "In 2025 the retail area will grow, with a large space for energy communities, the business area will be an equal driving force to the traditional one, and shops will be the point of contact to follow the customer in everything concerning the home. We are very confident and convinced that we will grow in terms of volume and headcount in 2025'. In 2024, the company from Narni, in Umbria, has added services for residential customers to those for businesses: "The partnership with Edison Energia has allowed us to take advantage of important but complex and tricky opportunities, and has served as a guide for us to grow the structure in step with the growth in turnover. The team became large and functionally complete very quickly. In a short time, we have increased the sales network, which is now present in almost all of Italy, and the technical structure has been organised and completed hand in hand with the administrative and marketing area.
