One person has died and three have been injured in a helicopter crash that occurred late this morning in Solcio di Lesa (Novara), on Lake Maggiore. According to reports, the private aircraft had just taken off from a villa in the area when, for reasons yet to be determined, it crashed.
All those involved were on board the aircraft. In addition to the emergency services, the mayor of Lesa, Luca Bona, went to the scene to monitor the progress of the operation.
The victim of the accident is a man in his seventies, a Swiss national, who lived in the villa from which the aircraft took off (investigations are underway to determine whether he also held Italian citizenship). According to an initial summary of events, he was at the controls of the aircraft, which crashed to the ground during take-off. The three injured are foreign nationals and were friends of the victim. According to reports, the victim’s family is well known in financial circles. At the scene, in addition to the ambulance service and air ambulance, were the Carabinieri and the fire brigade.
“Following today’s incident involving the Bell B206B helicopter with registration number I-CHOP, the National Flight Safety Agency (ANSV) has launched a safety investigation to determine the causes, with a view to prevention”. This is stated in a note from the ANSV, which also announces that “an investigation team will be dispatched to the scene of the incident”.
