Hermès, Brit Grace Wales Bonner to head menswear
Following the exit of Véronique Nichanian after 37 years at the helm of menswear at the maison Hermès, the company has announced the appointment of Grace Wales Bonner as creative director of men's ready-to-wear. This was announced by the French group in a note, recalling that the designer is the founder and artistic director of the eponymous brand, Grace Wales Bonner, and that she has developed a contemporary and innovative approach to men's ready-to-wear over the past ten years. "Passionate about craftsmanship and culture, she will present her first collection for Hermès in January 2027.
"I am delighted to welcome Grace to our family. Her contemporary vision of fashion, craftsmanship and culture will continue to shape the style of Hermès menswear, combining her perception of contemporary times and the tradition of the maison. We are only at the beginning of a dialogue that will continue to be enriched," said Pierre-Alexis Dumas, Artistic Director of Hermès. The designer commented, "Opening this new chapter, joining such a lineage of artisans and designers, is a dream come true for me. I express my deepest gratitude to Axel Dumas and Pierre-Alexis Dumas for giving me the opportunity to bring my vision to this magical maison."
A 2014 graduate of Central Saint Martins in London, Grace Wales Bonner has received numerous awards, including the British Designer of the Year Award for Men's Fashion in 2024.
