HONOR launches the new Magic V5 foldable smartphone in Italy, which is already available in the UK, France, Germany and Spain. The foldable takes a new step forward in footprint reduction, with a thickness of 8.8 mm and a weight of 217 grams. It becomes the top of the range for the Chinese manufacturer and one of the most interesting foldable smartphones on the market for its ability to combine small size with high hardware performance.
Worth mentioning is the V5's 5,820 mAh battery with silicon-carbon technology and high-capacity cells, a technology the Chinese manufacturer has been working on for years in its laboratories in Shenzen. According to the report 'Silicon Carbon Battery Market Size, Share, Growth, Report 2025 to 2034', the global silicon-carbon battery market is valued at $2.93 billion in 2024 and is expected to reach about $19.25 billion by 2034, with a compound annual growth rate of 20.71%. Demand is driven not only by consumer electronics, but also by cars and renewable energy.
The smartphone is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, obviously designed for Ai.
The camera compartment is driven by the Falcon AI system with a 64 MP periscope telephoto lens, 50 MP ultra-wide-angle main sensor, with HONOR Image Engine designed for artificial intelligence functions.
The inner screen, the largest, is 7.95 inches, while the outer screen is 6.43 inches, both compatible with stylus input. The new Multi-Flex mode allows up to three apps to be managed simultaneously, while the MagicOS 9.0 operating system integrates Google Gemini for AI assistance in writing, learning, organising and sharing.
