Over 15,000 hotels across Europe, including more than 3,000 Italians, have joined the class action against Booking.com to seek compensation for damages caused by the platform's anti-competitive best price clauses. The pan-European class action against Booking.com, supported by Hotrec, Federalberghi and 30 other national hotelier associations, received a largely positive response from European hoteliers. Italy, with about 3,000 registered hotels, is the country with the largest number of participants, followed by Germany, the Netherlands, Greece and Austria, Federalberghi points out in a note.
Friday 29 August is the last day to join. This deadline only concerns registration, which only takes a few clicks on www.mybookingclaim.com. The information and documentation required to finalise membership can be provided later. The roadmap of the initiative foresees that in the coming weeks the hotel data will be consolidated and validated and the statement of claim will be prepared. The goal is to file the class action lawsuit in the Amsterdam District Court by the end of the year.
