The Sole 24 Ore, Radio 24 and 24Ore Podcast series curated and conducted by Giuliano Noci, Pro-rector at the Politecnico di Milano together with Enrico Pagliarini, journalist and voice of "2024" on Radio 24. Available from Monday 4 May on the Sole 24 Ore website, on Radio 24, on 24orepodcast.com and on all audio platformsThe new podcast series entitled Gli Umanoidi alla conquista del mondo (Humanoids conquering the world) will be released on Monday 4 May on the Sole 24 Ore website, on Radio 24, on 24orepodcast.com and on all audio platforms, curated and conducted by Giuliano Noci, Pro-rector of the Milan Polytechnic, together with Enrico Pagliarini, Radio 24 journalist, presenter of the programme 2024 and reference voice for technology topics. Five episodes in a single issue that bring together innovation, society, labour and geopolitics, delving into one of the most disruptive phenomena of our time: artificial intelligence, which comes out of the digital perimeter and takes shape in the physical world through humanoid robots.
The series is part of the broader Disorder editorial project, devised and edited by Giuliano Noci, which stems from the book of the same name Disorder - le nuove coordinate del mondo (Disorder - the new coordinates of the world) and has developed over time through various editorial declinations, including the podcast series, first continued with a declination on geopolitics, which gave rise to Trump, the global pickaxe, and now on artificial intelligence with this new chapter on humanoids. By 'Disorder' Noci means the dramatic increase in the complexity of the world in recent years: between global pandemics, wars and economic crises, disorder today is no longer an exception but the new normality with which citizens, companies and institutions are called upon to deal.
The series Humanoids Conquering the World starts from the technology and the impressive speed with which humanoids are evolving, (as demonstrated by symbolic events such as sports competitions in which machines surpass human performance), to analyse the crucial passage of AI from cyberspace to physical reality, made up of bodies, sensors, artificial muscles and the ability to interact with the environment. The story shifts in the second episode to the concrete impact of these robots in everyday life, in homes, cities and factories, without eluding the implications in more delicate spheres such as the military, questioning the opportunities, risks and new balances that are emerging. The third episode tackles one of the most discussed nodes of technological innovation, the future of work, overturning a narrative dominated by the fear of substitution and proposing a more articulate reading of the changes underway, including new skills, new roles and an increasingly close coexistence between human beings and machines. The journey continues by widening the gaze to the global dimension, where humanoids become a strategic factor in international competition: the production and control of robotic technologies redefine economic and political power, with China now a leader in the sector, the United States engaged in protection policies, and Europe in search of its own technological sovereignty amid trade tensions, tariffs and fears for national security. In the concluding episode, the gaze turns to the future and the need to prepare for an increasingly algorithmic society, in which the real challenge for Europe is not only technological but cultural and educational: integrating STEM skills and humanism to develop elasticity of thought, transforming knowledge into action and talent into new growth models.
