Church Ici, new extension to 30 September

The recovery of the old Ici 2006-2011 from church bodies has waited many years. And it can wait another six months. This is explained by the decree of Palazzo Chigi, which arrived today, Tuesday 24 March, on the tables of the Unified Conference, to move from 31 March to 30 September by which those directly concerned must make the declaration for the recovery of the communal property tax for the five-year period concerned. The postponement automatically shifts to 30 October the other related deadline, i.e. the deadline for payment of the tax due.

In short, the dossier continues to engage the offices of the financial administration, even if after the implementing rules written to comply with the obligation imposed by the EU Court of Justice the number of real debtors has been reduced to a minimum. The obligation is triggered, in fact, for debts exceeding 50,000 euro per year accumulated for all properties owned throughout Italia. This parameter set by Article 16-bis of the anti-infringement decree law of 2024 (Decree-Law 131) excludes a very large segment of taxpayers and complicates, moreover, any checks by local authorities that would have to share data with each other to verify that the threshold has been exceeded at national level.

In any case, the alarm was also triggered by the scarce availability of management software to complete the operation, in an unclear framework as demonstrated by the fact that in the same hours in which the extension was taking shape, the Revenue Agency published the tax codes for the payment in Resolution 12/E/2026.
