Ignazio Messina & C. of Genoa acquires 100% of Thermocar

The shipping company Ignazio Messina & C. of Genoa has acquired full control of the Genoese company Thermocar, which operates in the sector of controlled temperature refrigerated container logistics. The deed of sale of 100% of the shares in Thermocar, between the selling parties Adriana and Federico Puccetti and the Genoese shipping and logistics group, was finalised a few days ago at the Bonelli Erede law firm in Genoa.

Thermocar, which has a long specialisation in the transport of temperature-controlled goods between Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Pakistan and India, has been working with Messina for decades, directly controlling the entire cold logistics chain. Thermocar has a fleet of refrigerated containers, container transport vehicles, a terminal and a cold store within the port of Genoa. The fleet also includes Multitemp containers, which through a system of bulkheads and remote temperature control, allow goods requiring constant temperatures of different degrees to be transported in the same container.

From the terminal in Genoa, all operations concerning temperature-controlled services are controlled and carried out: from the testing, repair and washing of containers, to the storage fed by 45 refrigerated sockets inside the Messina Terminal in the customs area with the temporary storage warehouse. The Puccetti brothers will continue to be involved in the management of Thermocar and, in particular, Federico Puccetti has been appointed managing director.

For the Genoese shipping company, this operation assumes a precise strategic value, not only because Thermocar's reference market largely follows the company's routes, of which it is a historic customer, but also because in the investment plan in new full container ships that the Genoese company is implementing, increasing its capacity on the reference markets with the aim of completing the total cycle of goods, particular attention has been dedicated to reefer transport capacity (refrigerated containers) for destinations in the Mediterranean, the Middle East, Africa and India.
