Iliad breaks off merger talks with Tim. Profits almost tripled in the first half of the year

French telecoms group Iliad said it had broken off talks on a merger with Italian operator Telecom Italia (Tim) and abandoned the possibility. "We have not had any talks with Tim since the beginning of April and they will not resume," said the group's CEO Thomas Reynaud, when questioned on the sidelines of the publication of the Polish-based group's half-year results and in Italy, where it has 12.5 million subscribers as of 30 June, with iliad Italia.

Almost tripled profits in the half year

Meanwhile, French telecommunications group Iliad almost tripled its global net profit in the first half of the year to EUR 700 million. Gross operating profit net of rents, the group's main profitability indicator, amounted to EUR 2 billion in the period, an increase of 10.2%. There was a slight increase in subscribers and also a 3.8% increase in half-year revenues, due to a stable performance in France and further customer growth in Italy. Consolidated group revenues reached EUR 5.09 billion (USD 5.96 billion) in the first half of 2025.
