Latina: Unlicensed dental practice uncovered – premises seized, one man reported to the police
The man, who held no professional qualifications, is alleged to have treated regular patients at home. Anaesthetics that had expired four years ago and medicines reserved for healthcare professionals were seized.
A vial of anaesthetic that had expired more than four years ago, stored just a few centimetres away from dust and production waste: this is one of the details that emerged from the raid carried out by the Latina Financial Police, which led to the seizure of an unauthorised dental practice set up inside a private home.
Unauthorised practice of dentistry
The man reported to the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Latina for practising dentistry without authorisation holds only a vocational qualification as a dental technician, a qualification which does not authorise him to carry out any procedures in the oral cavity.
Yet, according to the findings of the Latina Group’s financial police, he was treating regular patients, complete with medical records, X-ray images and professional stamps, all of which were subsequently seized along with the rest of the documentation.
The man is suspected of breaching Article 348 of the Criminal Code. Investigations are currently underway into his financial circumstances: he appears to be completely unknown to the tax authorities.
The clandestine clinic
The search, authorised by the Pontine judicial authorities, uncovered a fully equipped clandestine dental surgery: a dental unit, an operating lamp, suction units, compressors, sterilisers, surgical instruments and extraction forceps.
